Scammers sometimes impersonate banks to pressure people into sharing account details, passwords or one-time PINs. They may contact you by SMS, email, phone or social media and make the situation sound urgent.

Your bank will never ask you to share your password or one-time PIN. If a message asks for either, do not reply, click the link or download an attachment. Open your banking app independently or use the contact details on the bank's official website.

If you think you have responded to a suspicious message, secure your account immediately and report the incident through the bank's verified support channel. Acting quickly can help prevent further access.

A convincing logo or familiar sender name does not prove that a message is genuine. Pause, verify and use an official channel before taking action.

Global hiring starts with the right questions

Hiring someone in a new country can look simple from a distance. Find the right person, agree on a salary and send the contract. The complexity usually appears after the decision has been made.

Every market has its own rules for employment contracts, payroll, tax, statutory benefits and termination. A process that works in South Africa may create compliance problems elsewhere, even when the company and employee have the best intentions.

Before opening a role, teams should ask three practical questions. Can we legally employ someone in that market? What will the full employment cost be? Who will manage local payroll and compliance after the employee starts?

Answering those questions early gives finance, HR and hiring managers a realistic path forward. It also gives the new employee a clearer and more reliable experience from day one.

Performance marketing

A cheaper lead is not always a better lead

An educational article for marketing decision-makers.

Cost per lead is useful, but it can become misleading when it is treated as the final measure of performance. A campaign can generate plenty of inexpensive form submissions while delivering very few genuine sales opportunities.

The first step is to connect campaign data with what happens after the form is submitted. Which leads meet the qualification criteria? Which ones respond to sales? Which ones progress through the pipeline?

Creative and targeting also affect quality. Broad promises may attract more people, but specific messaging helps the right audience recognise that the offer is relevant to them. Forms can then introduce sensible qualification without making the process unnecessarily difficult.

The goal is not to produce the cheapest possible lead. It is to find a repeatable way to reach people who have a real reason to buy.

Agency, in-house and consulting experience.
